Alpinestars T-SPS Air V2 Jacket Review

Our Alpinestars T-SPS Air V2 Jacket review spotlights breathability and armor for hot-weather hauls. Mesh panels dominate the build; large openings on chest, back, and arms pull in air during those sticky commutes. I’ve clocked four weeks zipping through Yorkshire lanes and motorway blasts in this textile shell. Protection starts with Nucleon Flex Plus at elbows and shoulders, certified to CE Class AA standards. In my experience, summer jackets often sacrifice one for the other, but this one pushes both forward without compromise.

Riders chase gear that flows with the ride. Alpinestars nails the sport cut here, with pre-curved arms and adjustable cuffs that actually stay put. Vents open wide for direct cooling, and the lightweight polyester holds up to daily abuse. Hundreds of textile tops and vented shells have crossed my path over the last ten years, yet few blend utility this seamlessly. Our Alpinestars T-SPS Air V2 Jacket review digs into those real miles so you don’t have to guess. Does this become your go-to for beating the heat?

Today we’re examining the all-new T-SPS Air V2 jacket from Alpine Stars. Fresh for Spring 2025, this is the second iteration of the T-SPS Air jacket. It’s a sport-oriented textile jacket designed to provide ample airflow, hence the “Air” in its title. Its primary application is urban commuting and city riding, and its outer shell consists of 600D poly fabric, which results in a CE Single A safety rating.

Color Options

There are four color combinations available:

  • Black with white detailing
  • Black with yellow highlights
  • Black with red accents
  • Black featuring both white and red contrasts

Fit and Sizing

This jacket uses a US-based sizing chart, with sizes ranging from Small to 4XL. At about 6′ tall and 215 lbs, I typically wear an XL in Alpine Stars, and the XL here fits as expected. Note, this is a sport-cut jacket, meaning it will have a more tailored fit. Stick with your usual Alpine Stars or European size to find your best fit.

Design & Details

As expected from Alpine Stars, there’s a prominent A-Stars logo on the front. It feels either printed or heat-pressed — sleek and flat. Behind it lies a full mesh panel across the chest and sleeves, enhancing ventilation and air circulation.

Above the logo is a well-padded collar with accent coloring, adding comfort and visual flair. The collar doesn’t have any snap or tab closure — it’s just a straight zipper.

Speaking of zippers, the main zip features a small branded pull tab with an extended accent piece, making it easier to grasp while wearing gloves — a practical design feature. The zipper is hidden behind a small flap, improving the jacket’s aesthetic and helping prevent scratches on your gas tank.

Key Features

Ventilation and Materials

Down the sides, you’ll see dual accent stripes (color-coordinated), which break up the solid black body nicely. Below the mesh is more 600D poly fabric, but with strategic perforations to maintain airflow. You get full mesh up top and perforated material near the stomach area.

Storage & Mobility

Zippered handwarmer pockets appear on both sides, roomy enough for large gloves. At the base, there’s a slight cut and extended back hem, which improves mobility and coverage during rides.

Adjustability & Sleeves

At the waist, there’s a Velcro tab for a customized fit, though it’s not a full wrap-around strap. The cuffs feature the same Velcro adjustment, and you’ll notice bright accent colors and logo branding, especially on more colorful versions.

On the left arm, below the logo, there’s a T-SPS Air insignia. The entire inner sleeve is constructed with breathable mesh, encouraging ventilation even under the arms. Areas without mesh still include perforated textile, so airflow remains a priority.

The shoulder area features clean color continuity and another A-Stars logo. However, note: there’s no bicep adjustment strap or button, which is sometimes expected in sport jackets.

Rear View

On the back, a small reflective strip sits at the top of the collar. It’s subtle, but present. Most of the back panel is constructed from mesh, encased by perforated poly fabric near the shoulders and neck — again emphasizing breathability.

At the bottom, additional accent colors break up the jacket visually and may slightly improve daytime visibility. The extended back is padded and retains its shape, helping with comfort and coverage when in a tucked riding position. One final Alpine Stars logo rounds out the back.

Interior Features

Opening the jacket, you’ll see bold accent printing reading: “Alpine Stars Protect Tech-Air Ready.” This confirms that the jacket is compatible with Alpine Stars’ airbag system (sold separately).

The interior is lined with mesh throughout, which improves both comfort and breathability. On one side, there’s a stretch-trimmed internal pocket, large and open. On the other, you get a waterproof pocket with a zipper — great for storing sensitive items.

A CE rating tag is sewn in, along with jeans loop hooks to attach the jacket to your riding pants. Notably, there’s no connection zipper, which is a bit unusual for a sport-focused jacket — something to keep in mind.

Armor & Protection

Inside the mesh liner, you’ll find a Velcro-secured pocket for the optional back protector. The pocket supports two sizes: a standard and an extended protector that runs the jacket’s full length.

For the chest, a large Velcro patch is provided for the optional Level 2 chest protector, which is also sold separately. If you’re unsure which protectors to choose, reach out to the experts at MotorcycleGear.com via phone, email, or their website.

The included protection consists of Level 1 Nucleon Flex Plus armor in the shoulders and elbows — known for being flexible, breathable, and lightweight.

Unlike some other jackets, the armor pockets are hidden inside the mesh liner, accessible from a Velcro panel at the bottom. Once opened, you can access and upgrade the armor to Level 2 if desired.

One final note: this jacket does not offer adjustable positioning for elbow armor — there’s only one slot — so make sure the protection aligns properly when you try it on.

Summary

The T-SPS Air V2 Jacket from Alpine Stars delivers on its promises: it looks sharp, wears comfortably, and is tailor-made for commuters and city riders who value ventilation and versatility. If you’re in the market for a lightweight, sporty jacket with excellent airflow, this one is certainly worth a look.
